The IT function of this global hedge fund was running multiple complex projects. Individual projects could not be tracked effectively and there was no overall resourcing plan. Reporting internal to IT could not be reconciled with the Finance budgeting and forecasting without significant ongoing effort. Any change to priorities created huge headaches for all those involved. We joined the IT management team for the duration of the budgeting process. We created, agreed and then implemented a new, integrated, time-based process to manage the budgeting cycle across IT, Finance and the business. We created automated reporting packs to aid decision making across each budget iteration.
