Our Brief
The managing partner of our client was unhappy with the amount of time he had to spend managing the IT function and the level of service being provided. We reviewed the function and created a new support services model, recommending changes to address these issues.
Our Approach
We quickly devised a realistic plan based on working models in similar organisations. By demonstrating to the client how the existing operation stacked up against current industry best practice, we were able to show exactly what support functions should be available in-house and where it made financial and organisational sense to outsource.
Based on our analysis, we recommended restructuring the IT function to move resources away from development to support. We also recommended the use of off-the-shelf packages (and Software-as-a-Service options) to support common business processes and the outsourcing of non-strategic services such as hosting and email.
End Result
The total IT budget was reduced by around 20% whilst overall levels of service were improved.
